Creative handbuilding
Shape with your hands – at your own pace
Service Description
This session is an introduction to ceramic handbuilding techniques, with a focus on shaping clay by hand. You work directly with the material and create simple objects such as small bowls, cups, or sculptural forms. The session has a calm, process-oriented structure. You will learn basic techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab building, while developing an understanding of clay, form, and structure. No prior experience is required. All tools and materials are available in the studio. The pieces need to dry and be fired twice, so they cannot be taken home the same day. The first firing turns the clay into ceramic, and the second firing makes the object fully durable for everyday use. Firing times depend on the drying process and current kiln availability. You will be notified when your ceramics are ready for collection or can be shipped. The approximate waiting time is 4–6 weeks. Shipping costs are not included in the activity price. This course is suitable for both beginners and those who want to deepen their skills further. Up to 4 people can book this course online; for larger groups, please email us and we will find a suitable time. Other times can be booked by arrangement: info@arktiskkeramik.se
