Service Description

This session offers an introduction to handbuilding techniques in ceramics, focusing on shaping clay by hand. You will work directly with the material to form simple objects such as small bowls, cups, or sculptural forms. The session emphasizes a calm, process-oriented approach. You will learn basic handbuilding methods such as pinching, coiling, and slab building, while developing an understanding of clay, form, and structure. No prior experience is required. All tools and materials are provided. Finished pieces need time to dry and be fired in the kiln, so they cannot be taken home on the same day. Firing times depend on the drying process and current kiln availability. You will be informed when your pieces are ready for collection. This course is suitable for beginners as well as for those who want to explore ceramics in a slower, more tactile way.
